This last week I was able to get out around home and found a good bluegill bite. I know I caught a few that were small, but none were large enough to be considered “trophy caliber”. The vast majority was of that “eater” size—7 to 9 inches.
Each river, creek or lake we crossed on the way to the thermal oasis we found last Saturday was frozen solid. It is January after all. But upon reaching our destination, we found ice free emerald green flowing water.

Boy, we’ve been fighting some tough weather in the North Country this year. It’s been below zero more than it has been above… It makes the fishing difficult due to reduced activity, but it also makes sticking it out even more difficult.
